Each month, Grand Harbour Marina look forward to hosting Captains and Crew for an array of activities on the Quay. This month a Crew Wine Tasting Event - an evening to inspire and Excite was organised.
A large aspect of the customer satisfaction at Grand Harbour Marina is based on the interaction Captains and Crew have with one another during their stay at the marina.
Emma Cassar, Events & Marketing Manager at Grand Harbour Marina comments:
“We are constantly coming up with innovative ways to allow our crew to mingle with each other creating a homely atmosphere on the dock. It is also a great opportunity to get to know our clients on a more personal level ensuring they receive the best possible experience while berthing with us.”
This month Grand Harbour Marina teamed up with Andrew Azzopardi from No 12 Fine Wines and Provisions and Luisa Galea from Salvo Grima Yacht Supplies who came up with a wine cheese and chocolate pairing tailor made for Captains, Chief Stewardess’ & Chefs.
Crew where tendered across to the capital city of Valletta to the No 12 Wine Cellar located on the waters edge, a location going back over 250 years.
Andrew Azzopardi of No 12 Fine Wines & Provisions comments:
“We wanted to create an evening to inspire and excite the crews taste buds through a variation of complimentary flavours. We chose a few varied and Interesting wines based on different price points and worked on pairing them with both a variety of French Fermier cheeses and home-made chocolate to highlight the different layers of flavours one can appreciate from different pairings.”
Aydan Longmore, Captain of 66M MY OKTO comments:
“I was really impressed with the event overall, it was a wonderful way to get to meet all other Captains in a relaxed atmosphere over some fantastic selections of wines and hand made chocolates. The marina does a great job in keeping us constantly entertained through a variety of activities to suit everyone’s tastes.”
Luisa Galea from Salvo Grima Yacht Supplies comments:
“The next event is going to be focusing on local wines and pairing them with some traditional Maltese delicacies. We in Malta have great artisan local products, as a former yacht chef who loved to get to know local produce wherever I went, I wanted to highlight the Maltese specialities to the crew based here.”
With over 50 guests attending the event, and due to the success of this month, talks are already underway about the next collaboration with Andrew & Luisa.
